Meet a #futureshaper: Jana Bacinska

Jana Bacinska has always been passionate about fashion.

She studied clothing design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

She uses that background designing safety clothing, gloves and harnesses that help protect workers in all kinds of hazardous environments.

Her goal is to design comfortable and appealing equipment workers will love to wear.

“It is a feeling of deep satisfaction to work on a product that brings real value to end users, to help to protect them and potentially safe their lives,” she says.

Based in Brno, Czech Republic; here is her #futureshaper story.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

During school, I realized the designer profession incorporated many of my diverse interests and passions. Clothing and textiles were just a natural choice for me since I had come from a region with strong textile background.

What gets you excited about going to work every day?

I am never bored. There are always new and exciting projects and I get to work with great colleagues that inspire me.

If you were a fortune reader, what would you predict as the future of your industry?

Clothing will become our intelligent second skin. It will change its performance autonomously, according to the real-time needs of the user. This would include thermoregulation in respond to ambient temperature – self-cooling and self-warming, biometric sensing to track worker`s health or synchronization with person`s daily schedule to get him/her ready for upcoming tasks.  Clothing will be self-cleaned, self-repaired and it will even possible to change its properties on the go to fit wearers needs and even moods. What more, it will be self-powered gaining energy from ambient space or body.

In your eyes, what qualities does a #futureshaper possess?

A #futureshaper see what others can’t and is willing to do anything to make it happen.

What advice would you give someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?

Don’t be afraid of being different, although it may sometimes feel difficult.

When you are not working, what do you do for fun?

I am a constant explorer, always up for new adventures, fond of discovering and learning new things. I love being active and enjoy mountain hiking and all kinds of sports –skiing, cycling, skating, etc. Art in all its forms is also a great source of inspiration for me.
