First Business Aviation Satellite Communication System to Provide Managed Voice
over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Capability
EBACE, GENEVA, May 4, 2010 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that
the Honeywell MCS-7120 Satellite Communications System has been type certified
by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on the Dassault Falcon 7X
business jet.
The Honeywell MCS-7120 Satellite Communications System is an integrated
communication system for both cabin and cockpit communications that provides
fast, reliable, global connectivity via the Inmarsat SwiftBroadband or classic
satellite network.
“Honeywell’s satellite communications technology integrates seamlessly with the
Primus Epic® based avionics to provide the security and capability today’s
businesses need to stay productive while in the air,” said Brian Sill, vice
president of Business & General Aviation Aftermarket, Honeywell Aerospace.
“Operators can add their satellite communications to the Honeywell Avionics
Protection Program on the aircraft, providing a simple, one-stop service for
extended warranty coverage.”
The Inmarsat Swift Broadband service is capable of providing five times more
bandwidth per channel than the current on demand circuit mode Swift-64 (64Kbps)
service, up to 432Kbps per channel. Integral data compression can increase
throughput by up to 100 percent, depending on the data. In addition, the Swift
Broadband is an “always on” Internet Protocol (IP) connection, resulting in
significantly higher service reliability, availability and overall user
experience.
The Honeywell MCS-7120 Swift Broadband System combines a standalone satellite
terminal (model HD-710) with a Cabin Communications Gateway System that
includes an IP-PBX, network router and wireless access point (models CG-710 and
CR-710). The MCS-7120 system provides integrated voice and high-speed data
communications for cabin and cockpit applications over a wide range of
services.
