Honeywell Extending Agreement With Lion Air To Provide Avionics Suite For Entire Fleet Of Boeing 737NGS

178 Aircraft with Advanced Turbulence Detection and 3-D Weather Scanning

SINGAPORE, Feb. 2, 2010 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that PT Lion Mentari Airlines, operating as Lion Air, has extended an avionics selection for 78 additional Boeing Next-Generation 737s, completing the entire 737 fleet of 178 aircraft with Honeywell avionics.

“To make scheduling and training easier, Lion Air is making its entire 737NG fleet consistent with this selection,” said Mike Madsen, vice president, Airlines, for Honeywell Aerospace. “Furthermore, Lion Air will be getting the award-winning IntuVue™ 3-D Weather Radar, which is the first and only commercial weather radar certified to the new FAA Enhanced Turbulence Detection Minimum Operational Performance Standard (MOPS), improving pilots’ ability to see and avoid weather, wind shears and turbulence sooner.”

IntuVue is the only commercial radar that displays storms in three-dimensions at up to 320 nautical miles ahead of the aircraft and provides key analytical tools that allow pilots to dissect and analyze weather and hazards both vertically and horizontally. These features have demonstrated a more than a 45 percent improvement in turbulence detection. IntuVue can increase system reliability by up to 50 percent, reduce maintenance costs by 30 percent, and reduce weight by 25 percent as compared to other radars — yielding airlines up to a $10,000/year savings over existing systems.

Honeywell’s IntuVue weather radar has been selected for more than 2,000 aircraft. It is standard equipment on the Airbus A380 and A350 (when it enters service) as part of the Aircraft Environment Surveillance System. Deliveries are expected to start with the single aisle A320 family (A318, A319, A320 and A321) in the second quarter of 2010, with selection of the long range A330s and A340s, including freighters, in 2011. Honeywell’s IntuVue is certified and flying on the Boeing 777 and 737NG as buyer furnished equipment. IntuVue has been flying on the C-17 military transport since 2004. It is specified as standard equipment on the Gulfstream 650 when it enters service.

In addition to IntuVue, Lion Air selected an avionics package that includes the CAS 100 Aircraft Collision Avoidance System with Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ACAS II/Mode S with ADS-B), Quantum™ Line Comm/Nav radios (CNS), High Frequency Radio CNS, Solid-State Recorders, FDAMS (Fight Data Acquisition and Management System), and Rescu 406® ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter).

The CAS 100 ACAS II/Mode S Traffic Surveillance System offers ADS-B extended capabilities including Flight ID, velocity and GPS position with 120nm extended surveillance range and 100nm active interrogation range able to track up to 60 aircraft. The processor of the system has a partitioned operating system that allows emerging and future traffic surveillance applications to be hosted as ADS-B is more widely used. Current applications in development include merging and sequencing, oceanic in trail climb/descent procedures and surface movement safety.

Honeywell announced the first 737NG agreement with Lion Air in 2007.
