Career Focus
Your career in Honeywell's Law Department may focus on being part of a business leadership team. Our General Counsels and Assistant General Counsels reside within our various businesses and provide advice and support on issues ranging from customer contracting and operational concerns, to mergers and divestitures. Because we are a technology company, protecting intellectual property is also a key focus, and each of our business groups has a team of patent attorneys. These attorneys focus on IP litigation — both affirmative and defensive.
At Corporate, our practice groups in Human Resources and Litigation & Finance allow employees to work across businesses while learning Honeywell's varied industries and technologies. We encourage movement not only from business to business, but also in and out of corporate. Based upon your skills and plans, a career within the Honeywell Law Department can provide you with a rewarding experience.
Career Path
A career path within the Honeywell Law Department offers variety. Those in our corporate practice groups have taken their broad experience and moved into business groups as General Counsels. Our Intellectual Property attorneys have become General Counsels at the highest level of our organization, and General Counsels have the opportunity to grow by moving to larger, more complex businesses as their leadership skills develop.
Like most corporate law departments, Honeywell has a flat organization. However, it provides the opportunity to rotate through businesses and corporate, continually growing your skills and rewards. For instance, a Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) started his career with Honeywell as a General Counsel, Safety Restraints business, in Michigan. As Honeywell began to change its automotive portfolio, he moved to Danbury, Connecticut, and became General Counsel of the Automotive Products Group and the Consumer Products Group. From there, he took on a corporate role as Deputy General Counsel of Litigation and oversaw all of Honeywell's litigation efforts. After his successful corporate assignment, he returned to the businesses to become Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Specialty Materials. All of his prior roles prepared him for his latest residence as Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of our Automation & Control Solutions business in Minneapolis, a significant leadership position over an extremely complex $9 billion business segment.
