Honeywell Finalizes IntuVue™ Weather Radar Service Agreement For Singapore Airlines 777-300ER Aircraft

Honeywell’s Weather Hazard Detection System is the only system
on the market to provide 3-D capability to help pilots avoid weather-related turbulence and delays

SINGAPORE, Feb. 2, 2010 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that the company has finalized a 10-year maintenance agreement with Singapore Airlines for its fleet of 19 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft equipped with Honeywell’s IntuVue™ advanced 3-D weather radar.

“Singapore Airlines was an early adopter of IntuVue for storm detection when it was certified for B777 aircraft in 2006,” said Mike Madsen, vice president of Airlines at Honeywell Aerospace. “Utilizing Honeywell’s Integrated Service Solution reduces the airlines’ need to purchase and manage spares – thereby reducing cost of ownership, overhead, and capital expenditures. The program provides Singapore Airlines with additional cost savings and allows the airline to focus on flying.”

IntuVue’s slim design and high reliability can reduce operating costs by 53 percent, reduce weight by 25 percent and reduce maintenance cost by 30 percent as compared to other commercially available products.

IntuVue is the first fully automatic weather radar system certified to the FAA’s Enhanced Turbulence Detection Minimum Operation Performance Standard (MOPS) that enables pilots to see and avoid turbulence sooner. It is the only commercial radar that utilizes pulse compression for greater accuracy at longer range – a technology used previously only in military radars.

Honeywell’s IntuVue weather radar has been selected for more than 2,000 aircraft. It is standard equipment on the Airbus A380 and A350 as part of the Aircraft Environment Surveillance System. Deliveries are expected to start with the single aisle A320 family (A318, A319, A320 and A321) in the second quarter of 2010, with selection of the long range A330s and A340s, including freighters, in 2011. Honeywell’s IntuVue is certified and flying on the Boeing 777 and 737NG as buyer furnished equipment. IntuVue has been flying on the C-17 military transport since 2004. It is specified as standard equipment on the Gulfstream 650 when it enters service. IntuVue is available as a retrofit to reduce operating costs.
